New Horses

Forestry’s Devil – “Devil”

Devil (despite his name!) is actually a very lovely boy. He loves human interaction, be it grooming, training sessions or just following us around when we tidy his paddock. Devil came to New Stride as his trainer recognized that while he loved to run, his favourite spot was in the middle of the pack. He was in no hurry to go to the front, preferring the company of his race horse pals. Devil is still very new to New Stride, so we’re giving him time to relax, get to know us, as well as his new slightly slower paced life.

Catch Twenty One – “Sunny”

Beloved Thoroughbred, Catch Twenty One, once owned by passionate members of the Hastings Racing Club has recently settled in at Twin Creeks Ranch in Aldergrove where he is getting accustomed to a new home and surroundings after a fulfilling racing career.

He’s a friendly big baby, loves attention, and passes the time watching the other horses and cows around him (when he’s not trying to escape or bury his blankets!). The team at New Stride will be working with him over the next several months before he’s available for adoption…and have no doubt he’ll get snatched up quickly! (Here he is, checking out Magic)

New Stride Adoption Updates

Bearrock N Roll – “Bear”

Adopted! A super sweet horse who loves to be groomed and cuddled, Bear was adopted in October of this year after a short stay with New Stride, and taken to Clearwater to have a forever home and happy retirement.

Bear raced until he was 11 years old and although he still enjoyed running, his owners decided to retire him. Bear had 77 starts, from which he was 1st 24 times, 2nd 15 times, and 3rd 6 times…almost 60% in the top 3 placings! In 2014, he was ranked 20th out of the top 100 by wins.

He now has 100 acres to explore, horse and human companionship, a knowledgeable caring home of thoroughbred lovers who are dedicated to the breed and who have retired many ex racehorses of their own. He will live a life of luxury, semi-retired with light hacking on the trails. Congratulations Vivian and Dave. We know you will love this horse like we do!

Exotic Light – “Paddy”

Well, it’s official! Exotic Light ‘Paddy’ has a new home and her own ‘mom’.

Evelyn, a New Stride volunteer has moved Paddy onto her acreage in Langley where she’ll be living with a small herd and help Evelyn with executive coaching. Lucky Paddy, we’re going to miss you so much…and thank you Evelyn!

Horse Updates

We received a wonderful update on how Maid in Canada and Tiguan are doing – and both are great! Maid in Canada (pictured below) is ready for any challenge and has been in Alberta working cattle. As for Tiguan, she’s enjoying some downtime in preparation for the 2018 ‘Makeover’ competition in Kentucky 😊

New Stride volunteer Mary Ellen and Magic recently participated in the Jonathan Field clinic and learned a lot! The clinic was held over 3 days and both came away with very beneficial learnings and experience.

We’re also in need of riders (with extensive horse experience, currently riding a minimum of 3x weekly) to join our training team, and we’ll provide the training at no cost! Our gang of horses now resides at Twin Creeks Ranch in Aldergrove, so if interested, please visit our website and fill out an application. We look forward to having you!
