How’s the bidding on Topo Grigio
Topo says “off topic” – I see where today at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas, two trainers who previously plied their trade in Alberta have entries in two $1 million dollar races. Calgary’s own Robertino Diodoro who has amassed purse earnings of around $46 million since departing Alberta has Thomas Shelby entered in the Oaklawn Handicap. Diodoro’s protégé Rob Atras who hails from Winnipeg but spent a couple of seasons in Alberta running Diodoro’s shedrow at Northlands has Maracuja entered in the Apple Blossom. Morning line on these horses are 8/1 and 6/1 respectively. BTW Diodoro has a total of 7 runners entered at Oaklawn today including one in a $150,000 Stake. Suffice to say that the Purses paid in the 2 one million Dollar Stakes represent about 1/3 of the total purse money available for TB horsemen during the entire racing season at Century Mile.
Don’t poopoo that purse money available too much. You were the treasurer for years of said purse pool but nice to see you transition to Oaklawn wagering ambassador definitely a role you adept to.
