  1. Topo says “off topic” – I see where today at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas, two trainers who previously plied their trade in Alberta have entries in two $1 million dollar races. Calgary’s own Robertino Diodoro who has amassed purse earnings of around $46 million since departing Alberta has Thomas Shelby entered in the Oaklawn Handicap. Diodoro’s protégé Rob Atras who hails from Winnipeg but spent a couple of seasons in Alberta running Diodoro’s shedrow at Northlands has Maracuja entered in the Apple Blossom. Morning line on these horses are 8/1 and 6/1 respectively. BTW Diodoro has a total of 7 runners entered at Oaklawn today including one in a $150,000 Stake. Suffice to say that the Purses paid in the 2 one million Dollar Stakes represent about 1/3 of the total purse money available for TB horsemen during the entire racing season at Century Mile.

    • Don’t poopoo that purse money available too much. You were the treasurer for years of said purse pool but nice to see you transition to Oaklawn wagering ambassador definitely a role you adept to.
