After wasting almost 400k of Alberta taxpayers $$$$$$$ on a study to replace the structure of Horse Racing Alberta that will only serve as a hassock for the Undertaker to rest his feet on while he gazes out his window the Useless CPs have performed some minor tinkers to the Horse Racing Alberta Act hidden within one of those ubiquitous omnibus bills, FINANCIAL STATUTES AMENDMENT ACT, 2023, that all levels of governments use to hide behind. Most of the changes are minor tinkering except that more UCP cronies must need their pensions topped up as the UCPs have increased the size of the Appeal tribunal:
(8) Section 23 is amended
(a) by repealing subsection (1)(a) and substituting the following:
(a) appoint an Appeal Tribunal consisting of at least 5 persons and not more than 7 persons to hear appeals under this Act, and
Phil has a question:
If the amendments to the Horse Racing Alberta Act are contained in legislation called the Financial Statutes Act why does the current minister refuse to answer questions about Horse Racing Alberta claiming they are not a government body.
Would the Alberta horsemen not be better served if Horse Racing Alberta was downsized and more money went into purses and less into inefficient bureaucracy and crony pension top-ups.
Why are the UCPs not fiscally responsible.
Would the Alberta population not be better served if the Alberta government was downsized and more money stayed in taxpayers’ pockets and less went to inefficient bureaucracy and crony pension top-ups.

You can observe a lot by just watching.
Yogi Berra
His (Secretariat’s) final preparatory race for the Kentucky Derby was the Wood Memorial, where he finished a surprising third to Angle Light and Santa Anita Derby winner Sham. Laurin was crushed, even though he had trained the winner, Angle Light, who set a slow pace and “stole” the race.[55] Secretariat’s loss was later attributed to a large abscess in his mouth, which made him sensitive to the bit.[32] Before and after the race, there was some ill feeling between Laurin and the trainer of Sham, Pancho Martin, fanned by comments in the press. The dispute concerned the use of coupled entries[b] as Martin had entered two horses in addition to Sham, all with the same owner. There was fear that an entry could be used tactically to gang up on another horse. Stung by such insinuations, Martin wound up scratching the two horses that he had originally entered with Sham, and asked Laurin to do the same, but Laurin could not follow suit as Secretariat and Angle Light had different owners.[57]

STATE OF CENTURY FINANCIALS / IDES OF MARCH HAVE ARRIVED
CENTURY Alberta revenue in 4th qtr all sources was 16.5 million/22 versus 16.4 million/21, a paltry increase of 71k, but the CEO is correct it’s positive.
CENTURY Alberta revenue for 2022 was 71.6 million ~ 6 million per month,in 2021 operating slots for only 7 months, since covid shutdown operations January to June, revenue was 46.4 million ~ 6.5 million per month!
CENTURY all operations ,parimutuel/sports betting/i gaming revenue was 19.6 mil/22 a gain of 759k/4% from 18.5 mil/21, and 17.7 mil/20. BETMAKERS fixed odds that Clark Kent praised as the future, put couldn’t comment on their activities, has had a minimal impact through century bets/mile. Just wondering when his December business/vacation expenses such as $850 flight,$750 usa registration fees and lodgings/meals appears for the global racing symposium in Phoenix.
SHOCKING NEWS that century per securities report shows a LOSS of 2.7 mil Canadian or 2.2 mil USA,largely due to lower canadian dollar for the sale of their Sissons casino license in Calgary. SM2 took the license asset and through creative paperwork converted it to new ACE Airport Casino.
MINISTER TOEWS was emailed again before he rides into the sunset, to amend legislative hra 10.2 per ministerial approval of HRA annual reports to be posted in the spring not the fall!!
JUST wondering what happened to October posting of new public board members from 2 to 4 per new amendments, just have to buy a new table.
