Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Whatever the means of delivery, whatever the technological and corporate structures, music will always be about groups of talented individual performers communicating emotionally with individual fans.

“I mean, we were kind of talking about there’s only one ball amongst a lot of stars,” Cunningham said. “So I think that’ll be interesting. But like, how cool? I think that that team is going to draw a lot of attention. I’m curious to know how it’s going to pan out. But good for him.”

Phil has a question:

Who does their opponent double team.

You got to be lucky. Like for example, one time in the seventh game of a playoff, somebody took a shot — I think it was Nelson or Ramsey or Sam — and it hit the backboard, hit the rim, rolled around, went in, and made me a hell of a coach. You know what I mean?

So if we’re looking for symmetry and poetry in the Book of LeBron’s final chapter, we won’t find it in the city he chose, or the team he chose, but more likely in the role he chose. Cue the choir.

It’s the most unprecedented challenge left in a career spent setting precedents: Can LeBron become the connective tissue of a starting lineup with this much firepower? If so, the Sixers will be a legitimate terror for the rest of the league. If not, we’ll spend years considering what could have been elsewhere

The Ringer – Danny Chau – LeBron is taking a back seat in Philly, but it’s a back seat fit for a king.

The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.

The sight of Bob Myers pleading the Sixers’ case to Rich Paul on the Game Over podcast notwithstanding, Philly is way out of left field. The 76ers now have an über-talented, top-heavy, mind-blowingly fascinating roster that may or may not make any sense. Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Jaylen Brown, LeBron, and Joel Embiid provide, spacing issues aside, an egregious amount of skill, power, and athleticism. Good luck stopping that five-man unit if they can figure out how to meaningfully sacrifice their scoring opportunities, stay healthy, and make a resounding commitment to team defense.
