In small animal rescue, euthanasia is a devastating but real consequence of the overabundance of unwanted pets met by limited capacity for adoptive homes. In the horse world, “slaughter saves” are too often nothing more than a sales pitch. We owe it to the animals we claim to protect to stop confusing marketing with rescue, and to put our resources toward solutions that last.
