2017 THOROUGHBRED RACE DATES

THE HBPA of Alberta announces that the Association has entered into Race Contracts with Northlands and United Horsemen of Alberta (Century) to conduct “A” thoroughbred horse racing in 2017. Dates agreed to between the Parties are as follows:

Northlands Park, Edmonton

May 5 – September 16, 2017

54 live days up to a maximum of 56 days depending on horse population and funding
Backstretch Move In Date: Monday, March 6; Training starts Friday March 10

Century Downs, Balzac, Alberta

September 23 – November 5, 2017

14 live days conducted Saturdays and Sundays with afternoon post times.

Once the Association has been advised of purse support from gaming, we will be in a position to advise the membership purse payments and the overnite and Stakes Schedule for both Racetracks. The expectation is that this information will be available by April 1.

A General meeting of the membership will be held in the third week of April.
