Note from Executive Director/
Manager Allen Goodsell: Dear Members,
The HBPA of Alberta is anticipating hearing from the government on the upcoming 2020 race season by the end of this week.
Should we get new information, we would like to call a membership meeting this coming Saturday, May 30. Please check back later this week for updates. Thanks,
Allen GoodsellHorsemen:
The HBPA is being asked a lot of questions and/or hearing a lot of rumors from our membership about 2020 race season funding. So here is a current update – HRA doesn’t have a funding agreement as of yet. However, HRA is hopeful to have an agreement by the end of the week. We appreciate your patience and ask that you hold on a little longer as HRA and all of its stakeholders are working hard for us to have a successful 2020 race season.
We will send on any new information as soon as we are able.
Phil has a question:
When Maryland, New York, Kentucky, California and Florida each have a major track running how much of the handle will be left for the little tracks.

HBPA Alberta searching for a life-raft
Will BEFUDDLED Allen miss his third info deadline on Friday May 29, 2020 as Alberta horsemen are running out of fingers for his hope rings and have chewed off their nails rightfully worrying about their livelihood, as their are bills to pay and no $$$ coming in
RED ALERT:
Encourage the Grand Prairie owners to contact their MLAQ who happens to be Travis Toews, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance, in charge of horse racing as to funding status. Residents in his riding have direct access to his office in regards to issues and would bypass the cone of silence. However the apathy of owners is so rampant that they can’t be bothered to call!
Travis Toews, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance,
Phone: 780 415-4855
E-mail: tbf.minister@gov.ab.ca
Mucka did email TOEWS about the appointment of Tenille to the appeals tribunal for disputes over racing officials rulings. I blatantly stated it doesn’t pass the smell test as how could the CEO of HRA for the past decade give a fair and unbiased opinion for horsemen, I call BS!
The sizzling hot rumour is a $$$ 100 million class action lawsuit against the government and HRA in preliminary stages if we can’t race or have severely limited days. The claim has to be filed in Newfoundland since it is the only jurisdiction without live racing in Canada!
I’m Abacus Singh a distant cousin of Mucka Singh who is more into numbers, but still into horse racing.
