SportsNet – Grant – Who’s who and key agents of change in the Hockey Canada investigation

“Many of the people on sport boards do not have expertise in governance and don’t understand their duty of care, yet when they walk into the boardroom, they become the boss of everything,” Leanne Nicolle, a Canada Soccer board member from 2017-2020, said in an interview.

“It’s a system that is mired in mediocrity and it’s pervasive. As a board member, I asked hard questions, and they were not answered. The people around the table didn’t have an appetite to tackle hard issues like equity and abuse. These boards need to bring in people who will provide expertise and challenge norms, on top of meeting their fiduciary responsibilities.”

Horse Racing Alberta 2021 Annual Report

Horse Racing Alberta 2011 Annual Report

Handle – 2011 – $ 149,403,744 2010 $ 151,747,286

Handle – 2021 -$81,542.017 2020  $86,278,992

Sal says the 2011 report lets one gauge just how brutally the Captain and Tenille and the Undertaker have managed and promoted horse racing in Alberta.

The minions at Horse Racing Alberta may blame Covid for the brutally dismal 2020 and 2021 numbers, but 2018 and 2019 weren’t much better.

Handle – 2019 $99,262,303 2018 $108,029,809

Sal says that horse racing in Alberta’s in a very serious deKlein and the efforts of the minions at Horse Racing Alberta have exacerbated the situation rather than improved racing.

Cutting the Budget

Sal says that if any business in the world was operated the same way that Horse Racing Alberta has operated and continues to be operated, they’d shut their doors in a heartbeat.

Now Sal says that you may be asking yourself what do Hockey Canada, The Centre for Disease Control and Horse Racing Alberta have in common. Sal says that you can tell yourself that each of these is a government Agency, Board or Commission, the A, B, Cs of government and each of these has been very poorly run and far more important very poorly monitored by the government they are responsible to.

Never get in a pissing match with a skunk.

Edmonton Journal – Babych – Rural mayors ramp up opposition to provincial police force as Alberta government hosts webinars

Sal says that the UCP’s plan for a provincial police force is sheer nonsense election grandstanding. They can’t properly manage the A, B, Cs that already exist so let’s create another one for us to mismanage.

Sal says that Sal’s extremely disappointed that neither of the Alberta NHL teams nor the west coast whales have signed free agent Sam Steel. Not only is Sam Edmonton born and raised, he played his Junior Hockey on the prairies and has immense historical significance to this province and all of western Canada.

Let us put our minds together and see what life we can make for our children.

Time

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.

By 2011, Trump had driven his Atlantic City casinos into the ground, but he didn’t give up running sweepstakes. On the campaign trail, he’s awarded more than a hundred prizes in fund-raising contests. Supporters typically donate five or ten bucks for the chance to win a trip, all expenses paid, to meet him. Recently, his political-action committee sent an e-mail with a new offer: “Contribute ANY AMOUNT RIGHT NOW to be automatically entered to have dinner with President Trump in New Orleans.” He probably raised a lot of money; according to the Washington Post, similar contests have brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars. But the trip to New Orleans came and went, and no winner was announced. A representative for Trump explained that there had been an “administrative error.”

Sal says we’re spending good money to try and figure out how to grow food on Mars, but unless we start to take better care of planet earth there will be no one left to go to Mars.

Sal cannot understand why some scientist is being lauded for making plastic out of seaweed when the problem is too much plastic in the oceans already. Sal says Sal would laud that scientist if he discovered how to make seaweed out of plastic.

Life is insanely robust, though we can make species go extinct, and this is the bad thing. So I always make the point that you can’t say, ‘Is it too late?’ That is the terrible question, because either answer promotes inaction. If it’s too late, you don’t need to act; if it’s not too late, you don’t need to act.
