2016 INCENTIVES FOR LOWER CLAIMING HORSES
Alberta
The Directors of The HBPA of Alberta are pleased to announce that incentives will be offered to owners of horses who competed in certain claiming categories during the 2015 Northlands race meet and return to race for the 2016 Northlands meet. Since many other racing jurisdictions currently offer incentives to keep and attract new horses, the Directors are of the view that a program is warranted in Alberta to remain competitive. The details are as follows:
- Any horse whose last start in 2015 was at Northlands for a claiming price of $7,500. or lower and does not make a subsequent start in any other jurisdiction prior to making its 2016 debut at Northlands, will be eligible to receive a bonus of $500 upon its first start of the 2016 Northlands meet.
- Eligible horses will receive an additional $300 upon their third Northlands start.
- Eligible horse will receive an additional $200 if they make at least one start at Northlands after August 1st 2016.
For the 2016 Northlands thoroughbred race meet, owners meeting all of the above criteria will be eligible to receive a maximum $1,000. payment for each qualifying horse. This incentive program will be internally funded by the HBPA.
Further questions with respect to the Program can be directed to the Mat Monaco at 403-650-6448 or any of the Association Directors.
