“I think the story, the big story is that Bob Baffert is not there, but his horses are,” said former Hall of Fame jockey and now NBC horse racing analyst Jerry Bailey. “The horses he used to have are.”

Sal says there was 2 pages of semi-funny stuff and a 4 page article.

Vivi e lascia vivere.

Sal says that I guess you can get away with blatant racism if the target is a white heterosexual male and the targeted group understands tongue in cheek humour and couldn’t give a flying fuck for political correctness.

Sports Illustrated – Extra Mustard – Traina – Boring NFL Draft Broadcasts Miss Mark for Viewers

Gimme Some Lovin’

What happened this draft season was not merely a drop-off in talent, it was a drop-off in imagination. It was a drop-off in a willingness to coach, to amend your scheme, to exercise a little bit of patience and alter your philosophy to include someone a little different.

Sports Illustrated – Orr – Quarterbacks Slid Down the 2022 Draft Board Because the NFL Has an Imagination Problem

If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn’t thinking.

George S. Patton

Sal says that everybody in the sports world is sooooooo busy analyzing the analyst’s analytics analysis that their anal minds suffer paralysis by analysis. Most of them need to start watching the games to see what’s happening.

Hawkmoon 269

Front Office Sports – McCarthy – NFL Draft’s First Round TV Viewership Plummets 20%

The Ringer – Kelly – Grading Every Team’s Performance in the 2022 NFL Draft

Sal says that as the Covid-19 pandemic recedes into the bat cave we’ll see what sports actually picked up fans and bettors and what sports had pandemic quarantine bubble anomalies.

Sal says that the handle for the first day of 2022 thoroughbred racing at Century Mile on April 30th was Handle: On Track: $38,355, Off Track: $230,022 Total Handle: $268,377. That’s a Saturday evening with no NHL nor NBA games and the 3rd day of the NFL draft remnants for competition.

The man who has no imagination has no wings.

Muhammad Ali

Compared to that joke the jiggies perpetrated at Marquis Downs this past weekend where they paraded out the same group of horses for a jog around the soon to be soccer field and bet $350.00 on Saturday and $927.00 on Sunday, the Century Mile handle looks passable, but the next few months will tell if any of the Covid-19 quarantine interest remains post quarantine.

The new announcer’s name is Dylan Beardy and that was gleaned from the Alberta HBPA Facebook page by one of Sal’s sources. Sal says that’s abominable marketing.

Sal says that May 1, 2022 was the 1 year anniversary of Diana McQueen as Chair of Horse Racing Alberta. Sal was wandering if keeping the chair warm is considered an accomplishment.
