Bloodhorse – Byron King -Fast Conditions to Begin BC Saturday, Day’s Changes
ESPN – AP – World Series no-hitter most-watched Game 4 since 2019
And beware of the Euros on the turf.
Bloodhorse – Ehalt – A Classic Test for Flightline’s Greatness
They are not merely talking about Flightline; they are putting his name in sentences that include Secretariat and Man o’ War and Citation, making comparisons that are otherwise verboten on the backsides of American racetracks. There are caveats, of course: mostly that generational comparisons are always tricky as a sport evolves, that the way horses ran then isn’t the same as the way they run now. But they aren’t backing down too far, or tempering their words. Mostly because they all agree: Flightline, who will load into the starting gate as the favorite in the Breeders’ Cup Classic on Saturday, needs to be in the conversation for the fastest racehorse of all time. And yes, that’s a list that includes Secretariat.
And odds are, if you’re just a casual sports fan, you’ve never heard of him.

Kevin Durant just went to Number 1 with a bullet on the stupidest fucking assholes of the world list. Sal says that if you know any Alberta breds that started in the Breeders Cup please send Sal an e-mail.
CEOs can talk and blab each day about culture, but the employees all know who the jerks are. They could name the jerks for you. It’s just cultural. People just don’t want to do it.
Jack Welch
WPCA – RYNEVELD TO TAKE THE REINS AS WPCA GM
Sal says not to get fooled by the name – WORLD PROFESSIONAL CHUCKWAGON ASSOCIATION. It’s the Calgary Stampede and a few Alberta towns and cities and a BC throw in.
Sal would have been impressed if the job was GM of the Professional Bull Riders, cuz that’s a gargantuan step up.
Sal says that Century has an opportunity to step up and hire a dynamic, forward thinking person to replace Rynveld benefiting Century’s bottom line and stock price and giving Alberta thoroughbred racing a fighting chance. And NO Shirley, we’re not talking about a worn out political hack. Sal and the rest of the Alberta racing participants are sick and fucking tired of Alberta racing keeping hiring has beens, wanna bees, never wases and political cronies and recycling the duds who can’t compete in the US and Ontario racing markets.
Time for Century to move into the 21st Century.
Assiniboia Downs – 2022 Breeders’ Cup
Century Mile – 2022 Breeders’ Cup
Sal says that the above 2 links may answer your question about the less than lateral move to the Chucks.
What’s important at the grocery store is just as important in engines or medical systems. The Veteran
When I was young and bold and strong,
Oh, right was right, and wrong was wrong!
My plume on high, my flag unfurled,
I rode away to right the world.
“Come out, you dogs, and fight!” said I,
And wept there was but once to die.
But I am old; and good and bad
Are woven in a crazy plaid.
I sit and stay, “The world is so;
And he is wise who lets it go.
A battle lost, a battle won—
The difference is small, my son.”
Inertia rides and riddles me;
The which is called Philosophy.

The first outlet is his immediate family, his wife Reagan and son Knox Samuel, who was born on Aug. 1. The second is Bregman Family Racing, a horse-racing syndicate he owns with Reagan and other business partners. The group purchased eight horses last year.
Think Baby Got Backspin is a good name for a horse owned by a major-league slugger? Bregman owns another horse called Golden Sombrero — yes, after the dubious feat of striking out four times in a game.
“Total reverse psychology,” joked Bregman, who envisions Golden Sombrero as a Derby hopeful next year.
The Athletic – Rosenthal: Family, health and horses — How Astros’ Alex Bregman got his groove back

The news was not as warmly welcomed by Woodbine CEO Jim Lawson. Horse racing is still not part of the sports betting package provided by these operators, and he would like to see the horse racing industry be allowed to participate in this sector.
“Sportsbooks coming to Woodbine & Mohawk racetracks today. Horse industry is not allowed to participate – so wrong,” said Lawson in a Twitter post. “[Government] prioritizing private casino before [Ontario] non-profit, Woodbine, that [Government] subsidizes. Woodbine desperate to earn its own way – let us compete in our own business.”
Standardbred Canada – Sportsbooks Open At Ontario Casinos
Sal says that Jim Lawson should have thought a bit more before he fought the single sports betting changes and lobbied to keep fixed odds betting on horse racing out of Canada.
Lawson’s logic is fallacious. He’s not asking for a chance to have horse racing provide enough revenue to not require slots, he’s asking for a chance to dip into the sports betting pool. His use of the word subsidizes shows what a fucking idiot he is. Just giving more ammo to the anti-horse-racers.
Sal says that at least Lawson can plead for a sportsbook in Woodbine. In Alberta the socially conservative UCPs don’t want to make gambling easy so they’ll let millions of tax dollars leave the province and head offshore as the Alberta gamblers wager on their mobile devices at the sports bars or at home on unregistered gambling sites that even advertise their wares during the games.

With the Industrial Revolution, the production of food was delegated to big companies in order for women and men to be in the labour force, to come home, stick something in the oven, and eat. If you could change one thing in racing, what would it be?
I’d reduce betting taxes/fees and tote take-outs, which would explode turnover and increase revenue to racing. It is hard for racing, with its high overrounds, to compete with the low take-outs of sports and online casino games. It must be remembered that 98% of racing’s fans are punters and they are racing’s only customer. Everyone else is a supplier.

Sal says that millions of non-basketball fans fill out a March Madness bracket every year in hopes of winning what was once a Billion dollar prize. Many of the non-fans watch some or all of the games and a percentage become fans.
Thoroughbred racing keeps missing out on these types of promotions. Have a Breeders’ Cup contest with a $XMillion prize if a person can pick all 14 Breeders’ Cup races correctly. If you get even 1/100th of a per cent of the non-fans converting to fandom that’s better than looking out your office window at the falling leaves.
How many non-baseball fans watched the Houston Astros this year to see if their furniture was free.

CANADIAN RACING ACCOUNTABILITY FISCAL UPDATE
CENTURY 3rd qtr earnings (SEC Filing) that came out today show a drastic decline in Alberta revenue with 40% decline in earnings, net loss 1.8 million a change of 145% and operating costs up 15%.
GURU Paul sudden exit should be a indication of corporate cost cutting with the horse racing operations clearly in the bull’s eye.
GURU Paul is rumoured to be looking at fixed odds for chuckwagon betting at Stampede and various exotic bets, with a small % going to PETA??
