New York Times – – Jann Wenner Defends His Legacy, and His Generation’s
Phil has a question:
Are Jann Wenner’s comments sexist or racist or is he stuck in a time warp.
Did Jan Wenner forget his marketing smarts – yes Masters features white male rockers, but just wait for the next one.
Did Jan Wenner forget one of Bob Dylan’s Chestnuts – The Times They Are A-Changin

Please Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood
The 2023 Western Canadian Triple Crown concluded with the 75th running of the British Columbia Derby at Hastings Racecourse Saturday September 16, 2023. WYN Racing Stables Corp’s Accidental Hero, third in the Canadian Derby at Century Mile got up mid-stretch to take the lead from the pace-setting Sunbird and prevailed over that resilient foe. Accidental Hero is trained by Larry Grieve and had Kimal Santo in the irons for the Derby. Accidental Hero is a Kentucky bred Bay Colt, by Mo Town out of the Chatain mare, Pardonmecomingthru.
Accidental Hero was a $260,000 purchase from the 2022 Ocala Breeders March Sale of 2 year olds in training and was claimed by Mark DeDomenico for $40,000.00 at Oaklawn Park.

Honore de Balzac
Phil has a question:
What would Balzac, Honore not Billy, say about Horse Racing Alberta.
How many people saw that fucking waste of money joke that HRA put out about the 2023 Alberta Fall Classic.
Phil has an answer:
Not very many when the handle is only $593,163, $52,373 on track for 10 races that are supposed to be the celebration of Alberta thoroughbred breeding.
Hastings did $1,113,502 for 9 races on BC Derby day. The WPS pool in the Summer GI was $621,929.
IN 2020 the Alberta Fall Classic set a record handle for Century Mile of over $1.3 Million –
– yet in 2023 the handle is less than one half. There may have been more races in 2020, but both years had 7 stakes.
Phil has a question:
Is that how the Alberta Advantage works.
Phil has a question:
Can you make up your own story while the bureaucrats in Alberta are busy gazing out their windows.
In any bureaucracy, there’s a natural tendency to let the system become an excuse for inaction.
