Phil has a question:

How do you solve the takeout problem that makes horse racing a less palatable wager.

But until the industry’s real power brokers listen, work together, and act as one, as Oaklawn’s Louis Cella implored, attending this annual event is like eavesdropping on conversations in a barber shop.

Unfortunately, there are plenty in the industry that want rah-rah-rah articles that are “upbeat and positive” about horse racing. It is a silly angle: critics of horse racing are not going to be assuaged by relentless rah-rah-rah published by the Thoroughbred industry publications. Rather, this is a time to look outside of the industry for attitudes that may affect the industry.

Phil has a question:

If the takeout problem isn’t solved, how will the industry reap benefits.
