New Stride Silent Auction Update

Our volunteers are continuing to request and receive donated items for the Annual New Stride Silent Auction, scheduled for Wednesday, September 9. The event is held each year during the CTHS Yearling Sale at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley.

New Stride has a wait list of horses to be taken into New Stride’s rehabilitation, retraining and rehoming programs. Our only limitation is ensuring that we have adequate funds to be able to support all the horses in our care. So the funds raised by the Annual New Stride Silent Auction are very important.

Donors have asked for suggestions about what types of items are popular and raise the maximum funds for the horse adoption society. Here are a few suggestions:

• Wine, wine glasses, snack foods
• Spa products with perhaps a local spa gift certificate
• Book basket — could be tailored to young children, school age kids,        teenagers, or adults
• Cocktail ingredients with appropriate glassware and accessories
• Chocolate basket — assortment of chocolate products
• Car shine kit – cleaning and polishing products and other automobile care items
• Gift baskets
• Dining certificates — local destination restaurants or popular chain restaurants for wider appeal
• Gift cards – the sky’s the limit for both the type of item and the value of the card
• Sports-related experience certificates — golf rounds, hockey or football tickets, and other sports teams
• Tack store merchandise for horse or human
• Horseracing and other sports memorabilia.
• Fred Stone or similar prints — best if framed (easier to display at the silent auction), but not essential
• Other types of horse art or horse-related home decor
• Boxed electronics, small appliances or kitchen gadgets
• Jewelry items (new, vintage or gently used are OK)

These ideas are not meant to put a limit on anyone’s creativity, so please let your imagination guide you.

It would be helpful to know ahead of time what you plan to donate in order to prepare the bid sheets and finalize the table arrangements.
